What do I do to graduate?
Those who wish to take their degree, either in person or in absentia, should contact Sally Jones in the College Office (01865 279648) for a list of Degree Days and to register. The list of Degree Days for 2009-10 can also be downloaded here. The College has a specific degree day in September each year with c.50 places. In addition to the ceremony in the Sheldonian Theatre, Exeter College also provides several other events in College for graduates and their families. These include a ceremony in the Chapel where you will be addressed by the Rector and will be formally presented with your certificate, a Champagne reception and a buffet lunch. Full academic dress must be worn and it is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct gown and hood for both parts of the ceremony (before and after your degree is conferred). Candidates are allowed up to three guest tickets for their family and friends to witness the ceremony. Guests are also invited to join the Dean of Degrees for lunch in College. For further details please contact the College Office.
I read something about a specific event that I'm interested in, but I've not received an invitation - whom should I contact?
Contact the Alumni Relations Officer. We often target event invitations at specific interest groups, and it is possible that if you haven't been invited, it is because our records for you are incomplete.
How do I find out if there are any events going on in the University that I might like to attend?
The University now has an online calendar of events, where you can search a range of dates and by type of event.
I am interested in getting married in the Chapel - whom do I contact?
Contact the Conference and Events Manager in the first instance to see what dates are free.
How do I update my contact details?
Contact the Information Officer or log on to the secure Members' Area of the website to request your log on and password - then you can update your details yourself.
I need some careers advice - can College help?
If you know what sort of employment you'd like to go into, the Development Office can put you in contact with Old Members who have expressed a willingness to give advice to young Exonians. We also run a number of networking events for Old Members and Friends of the College, the largest being the annual December City Drinks. Alternatively, you could try the University Careers Service.
