Parents

Alumni Event

We are pleased to welcome parents of current students into the College community and greatly value their friendship, while always recognising that the principal relationship is between the College and the student. We warmly invite you to visit College and to come to the various special events which take place.

Events

We are delighted to invite parents to attend the following special events, held in College throughout their student's career at Exeter:

  • Freshers' Parents Tea - as students are dropped off at College for their first term, parents are invited to have tea with the Rector and be personally welcomed to the College
  • Leavers' Parents Lunch - at the end of their final term at College, students are invited with their parents to a farewell lunch in the Rector's Garden, hosted by the Rector and members of the Development Office.

There are a number of events for all members of the Exeter community at which Parents are welcome, such as our annual networking drinks event in London each December and the Association Dinner, held every two years.

Visiting Exeter

We are always happy to welcome parents to the College in their own right; please just make yourself known at the Lodge. You may enjoy coming to Evensong in our wonderful Victorian Gothic Chapel (Sunday, Tuesday and Friday evenings) or wandering around our peaceful Fellows' Garden.

Accommodation in College

Students can make bookings for their parents at the student rate of £20.56 per person per night. Normally, bookings can be taken only out of Full Term, and availability will depend on other residential bookings. The student should contact the Assistant Steward (01865 279654) for more details. For other options near College, please see our accommodation page.

Keeping in Touch

We hope that parents will take a personal interest in the life of the College. We invite you to receive our quarterly electronic newsletter Exeter Matters, as well as copies of the College Register and our College magazine Exon, which give a flavour of Exeter College today. Published every autumn, they report on the news and achievements of our students, Old Members, Parents and Friends.
