Telethon 2010 Callers

This Year's Callers:
Austin Yim (2007, English)
"Speaking to alumni over the last two weeks has been both interesting and inspiring. It's been great to hear people's fond memories of the College and to find out about what people have achieved since they left."
Billy Bowring (2008, Migration Studies)
"It was wonderful to have the opportunity to converse with people of such a wide age group that have been through and done what I'm doing at the moment. It also made me realise just how important charitable donations are to the College and the incredible position I'm in, studying here. Talking to Old Members only confirmed this privilege."
Diego Flores (Williams student)
"I really enjoyed the Telethon. It was a great mix of volunteering, socialising and paid work experience. The alumni were great too, I had some very interesting conversations (including an invitation to Paris!), and it was that along with knowing that I was giving something back to Exeter which made the job so enjoyable."
Kaitlyn Sheridan (2009, History)
"Many of the alumni I talked to described Exeter as the friendliest place they have ever been. They would share stories about their participation on sports teams and in other student activities and explained that Exeter was the centre of their social and academic activities; and to this day, it is still the friendly place they remain connected with. Hearing these stories helped me realise that students at Exeter - although involved in various activities outside College - help form a life-long community, and it felt really good knowing that I am a part of that."
Robin Andrews (2006, Modern Languages)
"It has been great to have the opportunity to speak to Old Members and work with other Exeter students. I have really enjoyed the interesting and often funny conversations I have had."
Sam Hitchings (2007, Literae Humaniores)
"The vast majority of alumni and parents I spoke to seemed to enjoy the conversations we had, and it felt good every time to know that I was brightening someone's day and reminding them that people at Exeter care about what they are doing with their life after University. Speaking to previous generations of Classicists I really got the sense that I was part of a wider family and an honourable tradition, and I was truly inspired by some of the long, varied and successful careers I heard about."
Sam Mills (2009, Physiological Sciences)
"I really enjoyed the Telethon as I knew that my efforts combined with the generosity of Exeter's Old Members would really help students now and in the future."
Xiao Cai (2006, Mathematics and Philosophy)
"It's fascinating talking to old Exonians and discovering what they've been up to since leaving - especially for a semi-finalist such as myself. It's also showed me how much of a difference the Exeter experience has made on their lives and how worthy a cause it is to give something back."
Edward Anderson (2007, English)
"Before I started the Exeter telethon, I wasn't quite sure what to expect; but after a few minutes of ringing and chatting with old members, I realised how much fun it could be."
Tim Hele (2007, Chemistry)
"The experience of talking to old members has both inspired and empowered me, not only with the breadth and diversity of their employment, but of their support and confidence for the college even through difficult times."
Sahana Ghosh (2008, Migration Studies)
"Despite initial nervousness, connecting with old members has been fun! Interesting conversations, memories and lots of chocolate - working on this campaign has been a great learning experience."
Adam Halewood (2008, Jurisprudence)
"Before I started the telethon I was quite nervous as I didn't know what to expect. But after the first few calls, I found that all the old Exonians loved talking to current members and I ended up really enjoying it."
Ed Roffe (2008, Chemistry)
"Talking to old members of the college has really opened my eyes to the opportunities available to graduates and it is an experience I am really enjoying."
