Economics

In Hilary Term 2008, Exeter launched a campaign to endow a Fellowship in Economics. Sir Ronald Cohen made a launch gift of £1m on the condition that others were encouraged to contribute the remaining £500k that is required to endow this post in perpetuity. Many of those who studied Economics have already shown their support and the Campaign will formally close at the end of Trinity Term 2009.
It is becoming increasingly important to protect teaching posts in this way so that the College can maintain its independence in choosing which subjects it will teach - regardless of any changes within the University.
The College has now appointed Professor Martin Ellison as the Michael Cohen Fellow in Economics. He is a macroeconomist who comes to the College from Warwick University.
For further information please download a copy of the Economics Brochure or contact the Development Office.
We hope that all those who studied Economics at Exeter, or who have followed a career in the financial sector, will consider supporting this campaign. This is a vital way in which Old Members can help to protect the tutorial system and help the College to maintain its independence in choosing which subjects to teach.
