Exeter House

Exeter House has been home to the College's graduate students since its purchase in 1967, and currently provides accommodation for 51 students, in rooms of varying quality and size. Following the purchase of 235 Iffley Road in 2007, the College has been awarded planning permission to develop the site, dramatically increasing its capacity and improving the facilities it is able to offer.

This development will enable Exeter to provide the very best accommodation to its graduate community - both modern and comfortable to live in, collegiate in feel, and constructed and run to rigorous environmental standards.

"It's a very good scheme and I think it really will improve the Iffley Road. It's environmentally very good too and they have taken a lot of care about the way they have designed it. We welcome it as a good use of the site"
David Barton, Chairman, Iffley Road Area Residents' Association

235 Iffley Road has been completely refurbished and is now home to 8 students. Building work has started in the gardens behind 237 Iffley Road whilst the property itself is being gutted and turned into three independent flats. These building works will be completed by September 2009 when the second phase of building and refurbishment, at 239 Iffley Road, commences.

"I look forward to the new communal spaces that promise to bring the graduates together even while living away from the College."
Sahana Ghosh (2008, Migration Studies)

To date the College has received three major gifts towards this redevelopment project totalling £2.5m. In addition the College has raised a further £1.9m from the sale of redundant properties in North Oxford.

The College is therefore seeking to raise a total of £3.1m to complete this work.
