Legators

Thanking Legators to Exeter College

Exeter is committed to the public recognition of its donors, where desired, in order both to express the gratitude of the College as a whole and to demonstrate that those who know the College best are committed to its support and future success.

The College would like to recognise the generosity of those individuals, during their lifetime, who have made provision for the College in their Will. We hope legators will also continue to support the College through gifts to the Annual Fund.

Recognition

Those who make provision for Exeter in their Will are invited to:

  • Attend an annual garden party hosted by the Rector
  • Attend the annual Commemoration of Benefactors Service
  • Be formally acknowledged in the annual Donors' Report

Leaving a Legacy to Exeter

Founded upon seven centuries of philanthropy, Exeter has always - and will always - recognise its donors: thanking them publicly for their generosity, honouring their support and involvement, and ensuring that their memory is preserved. All benefactors are recorded in the College records and those whose gift (either in their lifetime or upon their death) is more than £100,000 will be recorded on the Benefactors' Tablet in the Benefactors' Gallery, above the Dining Hall.

Legacy Society

Those who inform the College of their firm intention to support Exeter through a bequest will be invited to join the College's Legacy Society.

The Rector hosts members of the Legacy Society each year at an annual garden party. Membership is optional and all legators will be thanked regardless of whether or not they choose to join the Legacy Society.
