The Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Scholarship

The Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Trust, New Delhi, India has established a scholarship in memory of Bodh Raj Sawhny, who attended Exeter College in 1902 reading Civil Law.

The Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Scholarship is now available each year to a top Indian student reading for the BCL at Exeter College, Oxford.

The Bodh Raj Sawhny Memorial Scholarship is next available for academic year 2009-10 is worth Rupees one lakh (Rs. 1, 00,000/-), tenable for one year only. The Scholarship will be disbursed in Rupees in India to the student selected by Exeter College, once he or she has started the BCL course. It is not tenable for any other course.

The Scholar will be required to write a report on his or her progress at the end of the academic year to be sent to the Trustees.

Should no suitable candidate be put forward in any year, the Scholarship will not be awarded.

To apply for this Scholarship, applicants should first secure a place on the Oxford BCL course and mark Exeter College as their chosen College. Once successful in securing a place at Oxford, applicants should write to the Academic Administrator at Exeter College expressing their desire to be considered for the Scholarship. The letter should confirm that the applicant has been offered a place at Oxford and would be willing to come to Exeter College. The letter should be no more than one page long and should enclose a copy of the applicant's CV. There is no separate application form.

The closing date for consideration for this Scholarship is 1st June 2010.
The successful candidate will be notified by 30th June 2010.
