Ian Reid is a University Lecturer in Engineering Science and Fellow of Exeter College. In the college he tutors in the Mathematical, Electrical, Control and Computing parts of the Engineering course. His research concerns various aspects of Computer Vision.

He obtained a BSc from the University of Western Australia in 1987, and came to Oxford University on a Rhodes Scholarship in 1988 where he completed a D.Phil. in 1991. Between then and taking up his Fellowship in 2000, he was a postdoctoral researcher, initially as a Violette and Samuel Research Fellow in Science, and subsequently as an EPSRC Advanced Research Fellow. His research interests concern algorithms for visual control of active head/eye robotic platforms (for surveillance and navigation), visual geometry and camera self-calibration (applications of these to measurement, augmented and virtual reality), and human motion capture and understanding.

Further details of his research and departmental teaching can be obtained from Professor Reid's departmental web page and from the Active Vision Lab website.
