The Rector and Fellows warmly invite Alumni to the Lyell Society Dinner.
We are thrilled to be able to announce that Dr Louise Biddle (2008, Earth Sciences), will give a pre-dinner lecture; “Chasing ice: The role of meltwater in our global climate”.
Louise is working at the University of Gothenburg in the Department of Marine Sciences, where her research focuses on the interaction of glacial and sea-ice meltwater with the upper ocean.
Louise will discuss some of the novel data collection techniques that she uses, including underwater gliders and seal-borne tags, and the process of identifying glacial meltwater at the edge of the Antarctic continent and delving underneath the huge expanse of annual sea ice that grows and melts over an area the size of South America.
