Portraits: a photography exhibition by Antonio Perricone (2017, English)

Students, staff and alumni are invited to a photography exhibition by Exeter student Antonio Perricone (2017, English).

This summer, Antonio travelled to New York to work with LGBTQ+ rights advocacy group, Voices4, thanks to the generous support of Exeter College’s North America Travel Scholarship. While in New York, Antonio shot a series of portraits which are going to be shown in a free exhibition on the 22nd November in Exeter College. We cordially invite alumni and current Exonians to attend.

On taking the photographs, Antonio told us: “I spent my free time meeting people my age who lived in New York. I generally cast people through online apps like Instagram and Tinder, and even walked up to skaters in the park to ask if they’d want to shoot. One model, Jovel, identifies as non-binary and our shoot was an opportunity to capture them where they are in their life now. We’d shot together two years ago before they began transitioning and exploring their gender identity. All the photos are based on the idea of sharing a moment or connection with people who are otherwise more or less strangers.”

Portraits by Antonio Perricone will be shown on 22nd November between 7 pm and 10 pm in the Rector’s Drawing Room, Exeter College. Attendance is free and you do not need to book.
