We are pleased to announce the launch of our essay competition, open to UK-based pupils in Years 7, 8, and 9 (and their equivalents).
We would like to you to write about something you find interesting. Is there a problem you think needs fixing? Or perhaps there’s an important aspect of your favourite subject you’d like to explore in more detail. This competition is your chance to do so! We will accept essays on any topic you find interesting – the choice is yours. You can talk about problems in your local community or in a country of your choice, problems affecting young people, or issues such as climate change, natural disasters, technology, sport… or any other topic you can imagine!
Your task is to: Tell us about a problem facing the world today. Explain what the problem is and offer a solution.
Tell us about a topic you find interesting, and let us know more about it!
You are welcome to write a new heading for your essay, or to use the one above on its own. There is no minimum or maximum word limit, so you are free to write as much as you want to! Watch out for your spelling and grammar, too!
This is a great way to learn more about interesting topics, and to teach us something new! You will also get feedback from the reading panel.
Prizes:
£25 Amazon Vouchers
£10 Amazon Vouchers
Certificates of achievement
Deadline for entries is 10th July 2023 at 5pm.
Please email your entries to outreach@exeter.ox.ac.uk. In the body of your email, please provide your name, year group, and school name. This information is for our records only, and will not be given to the reading panel. Please submit using an email address which you monitor regularly, as this is how we will inform you of the result.
All UK-based pupils welcome to enter. Good luck!
