Exeter College has a thriving careers and internships programme for the exclusive use of its students.

Careers advice

Regular careers workshops are available, including CV writing skills, talks from professionals about their field of work and how to embark on a career in that field, and coaching on invaluable career and life skills such as time management and understanding how to achieve the best results from yourself and your colleagues. Details are circulated regularly via email.

Internships

A wide range of internships and work shadowing placements are offered exclusively to Exeter College students. All internships offered through the Exeter College internship programme are paid. Work shadowing placements are not usually paid.

Bursaries are available to Exeter students undertaking work experience, internships, work shadowing placements or volunteering. These are available to students irrespective of whether their placement has been arranged through the College or independently. It is the aim of the College that all students who wish to undertake some form of work experience should be able to do so, regardless of their financial situation.

The internship opportunities offered through the College’s internship programme change from year to year. In the past the programme has made available internships in publishing, law, finance, journalism, the charity sector, pharmaceuticals, architecture, engineering, science and research, teaching, insurance, public policy, and more. Employers that have offered internships to Exeter College students have included The Economist, HSBC, the High Court, English Heritage, the BBC, Clifford Chance, Jaguar Land Rover, The Sunday Times, EDF Energy, Alliance and Leicester, and many more.
