Where can I study during the Library renovation works and what are the opening times of these study spaces?
In Turl Street, you can use the following spaces
- The Library Marquee is open 24/7
- The Stapledon Room is used study space between 16:00 and 08:00
- The Hall is open to readers between midnight and 07:00
In Cohen Quad, the Learning Commons is always available and if you’d like to work in one of the unused meeting rooms please ask at the front desk.
Do I need to book a study place?
No, there is no need to book. If you need space to hold a study group, please ask the front desk in Cohen Quad or the Porters’ Lodge in Turl Street
Is there Wi-Fi in the Library Marquee?
There is Wi-Fi coverage across the Front Quadrangle, including the Library Marquee, and the login protocols are the same as in any other College space.
Are there sockets to plug in my laptop in the Library Marquee?
There are sockets in the grey boxes located at the bases of the Marquee wall pillars.
Is the Library Marquee heated?
Although the study space is always 24 hrs a day, it will not be heated between midnight and 07:00 order to conserve energy in a time of energy crisis. During these hours, students in Turl Street can use the Hall or the Stapledon Room which are heated.
Can I hold a study group meeting in the Library Marquee or other indoor study spaces?
Noise is to be kept to a minimum as to not disturb other users. Meetings, including study groups, cannot be held in these spaces. If you need to hold a study group meeting, please use one of the common spaces such as the CQ Learning Commons or book a meeting room.
Can I bring my friends from other Colleges to study in the Library Marquee or other indoor study spaces?
Similar to the Library, these spaces are open only to Exeter students.
Can I arrange a social event in the Library Marquee out of term or on weekends?
No, the Library Marquee is a study space only and cannot be used for social events.
Can I leave my belongings in the Library Marquee when I go for lunch or dinner?
Similar to the Library, you are kindly requested to not block study spaces when not using them.
Can I bring food or drink in the Library Marquee or other indoor study spaces?
Food items are not allowed. Drinks in sealed containers such as water bottles are, of course, allowed. You are kindly reminded to dispose of any rubbish as they leave the study spaces.
