Exeter College (part of the University of Oxford) is seeking a Buildings Maintenance Operative to join its Maintenance team, and assist in the repair and maintenance of the College buildings within Oxford.

This is a diverse and interesting role, which will see you interacting with a wide range of people (both within and outside the College), and undertaking maintenance on a variety of types of building (including historic listed buildings).

On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for implementing all aspects of the College’s planned and reactive maintenance programmes, and will provide support to a range of Trades people (including plumbing, carpentry, decorating, electrical work, etc). You will also oversee stocks of key maintenance items, as appropriate.

To be successful, you will have a strong team focus, a good all-round knowledge of maintenance and repair, and some knowledge of Health and Safety regulations. You should feel comfortable working at height and using ladders safely. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work efficiently and effectively without supervision when required. Experience of working in an historic building environment or in student accommodation is desirable, as is a full driving licence.

The salary will be £26,526 per annum (i.e. £13.08 per hour). In addition, the College offers a range of generous benefits, including free lunch whilst on duty, 38 days of annual leave, access to discounted healthcare/ dental care, and a contributory pension scheme.
