Guaranteeing the Tutorial

Guaranteeing the Tutorial
At the heart of the Collegiate Ideal is tutorial teaching. We believe that no other form of teaching is as effective or has a greater impact than when a student receives one to one tuition from an academic who is a world leader in their field.
Old Members, Parents and Friends who wish to help protect this unique, effective and extraordinarily expensive form of teaching may wish to make a gift to support one or more of the following areas:
- the endowment of or annual funding towards Fellowships and Lectureships in a range of subjects
- the creation of Career Development Fellowships to bring top young academics to Exeter
- the creation of Graduate Teaching Assistants to provide additional teaching
- the funding of Graduate Research Assistants to work alongside current Fellows
- the enhancement of specific subject sections within the Library
- the creation of a Visiting Fellowship
- the cost of a single student’s tutorials for a year
- to provide travel bursaries for students and Fellows
- to provide "writing up grants" for DPhil students
- to fund the annual "Subject Family Dinners"
- to fund weekly seminar series for graduates and undergraduates
Gifts can be made towards the funding in whole or in part of any of these projects which will enhance the breadth and quality of the broader educational experience at Exeter.
For more information or to discuss ways to make a gift that supports Exeter’s tutorial system, please contact the Development Office.
