Exeter to create new Fellowship in Fine Art

Exeter is delighted to announce that the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, and the Governing Body of Exeter, have agreed to create a new jointly appointed Associate Professorship in Fine Art linked to a Governing Body Fellowship at Exeter.

It is a happy coincidence that this step forward in our association with the Ruskin School, which has been under consideration for some time, has been confirmed in the same week that one of our most distinguished Fine Art graduates, Helen Marten (2005), was awarded the Turner Prize.

The new post will be advertised soon, and the successful candidate will start in October 2017. Applications will be sought from artists of emerging or established international stature. There is no specified area of expertise within fine art; but we will be seeking to appoint an artist with a research-based practice who can demonstrate a high level of engagement with the practical, theoretical, curatorial, and educational aspects of fine art. The new Fellow will teach Exeter’s undergraduate students reading for the Bachelor of Fine Art degree and will nurture within the College a community of graduate students reading for MSt and DPhil degrees in Fine Art.
