Exeter alumni return to Christmas University Challenge
Christmas University Challenge is back on our screens this December, and Exeter College alumni will once again be among the festive quizzers facing the nation’s toughest trivia. Having reached the semi-finals in 2022, Exeter’s team has been invited back to compete in this year’s special “champions” edition of the series.
The College will be represented by four accomplished alumni: Reeta Chakrabarti (1984, English and Modern Languages), BBC newsreader and correspondent, and Chancellor of York St John University, who returns as team captain; Sanchia Berg (1982, English), an award-winning BBC journalist; Andy Anson (1983, Mathematics), CEO of the British Olympic Association and chair of Lancashire Cricket Club; and Alexander Watson (1997, Modern History), Professor of History at Goldsmiths, University of London.
This year, Exeter College will be taking on Trinity Hall, Cambridge, in what promises to be a closely fought contest. The episode will air on BBC Two on Sunday 28 December at 8.30 pm, and will also be available on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
We’re delighted to see Exeter alumni once again representing the College with such distinction and enthusiasm. Don’t forget to tune in, cheer them on, and see if the team can match – or beat – their impressive 2022 performance.
Wishing best of luck to Reeta and the team!
