Exeter College Register: Latest edition now available online

The new edition of the Exeter College Register is now available to read online. This issue marks a significant moment in the College’s history, as it includes a farewell message from Professor Sir Rick Trainor, who served as Rector from 2014 to 2024, and a warm welcome to Exeter’s incoming Rector, Dr Andrew Roe CB.

The edition is rich with reflections and insights from across the College community. It features engaging reports from the Presidents of the JCR and MCR, as well as a note from the Choir. Readers will also enjoy the witty and thoughtful orations delivered by the University’s outgoing Proctors and Assessor for 2024–25 – among them, Exeter’s own Professor Conall Mac Niocaill, Fellow in Earth Sciences, who served as Junior Proctor.

History enthusiasts will be particularly intrigued by two archival discoveries: alumnus Dr Dominic Berry (1983, Classics) has uncovered what is believed to be the earliest known photograph of Exeter College, and Jessica Burge (2020, History) delves into the records of the now defunct Adelphi Club – a must-read for anyone interested in social history.

Also featured in this edition, Stewart-Flowerdew Fellow in Mathematics Professor Cornelia Druţu shares her passion for mathematics, and outgoing Rector Professor Sir Rick Trainor offers insights into the strengths of Cohen Quadrangle, and how its design can inspire educational spaces elsewhere.
