Exeter Fellow co-authors practitioner’s guide to AI

Exeter College Fellow, Dr Kejia Hu has co-authored a new practitioner-oriented article, How AI is Reshaping Work – A Practitioner’s Guide. The article has been published in the first edition of WAIC UP!, the official magazine of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC).

The article introduces a “four-level framework” designed to help organizations and professionals navigate the evolving AI landscape. This framework outlines the stages of AI-driven transformation, from Level 0 (Automation) and Level 1 (Personalization), to more advanced stages like Level 2 (Operational Innovation) and Level 3 (Business Innovation), which involves “AI enabling entirely new industries and economic models.”

This work was co-authored with Jasper Xu, the Mainland China and Hong Kong Digital Trust & Risk Markets Leader at PwC China. Mr. Xu brings over 28 years of experience in digital transformation and AI-driven service solutions. This collaboration connects directly to Dr Hu’s own interdisciplinary research at Exeter and the Saïd Business School, where she is an Associate Professor focusing on human-AI interaction and operations management.

This publication follows Dr Hu’s recent participation as an invited speaker at the WAIC 2025 conference in Shanghai. She was also recently appointed a Fellow at the TUM Institute for Advanced Study in Germany and was previously named one of the “40-Under-40 MBA Professors” by Poets & Quants.

The full article (in Chinese) is available to read in the WAIC UP! magazine.

A video summary with English subtitles is also available.
