Meghana is the Chief Executive Officer at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust (OUH) since July 2022. Prior to this, Meghana spent ten years as Chief Medical Officer, initially at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW, 2012-2019) and then at OUH (2019-2022). Meghana trained as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and was a Consultant, Clinical Director and Divisional Director at Milton Keynes University Hospital before joining UHCW.
Meghana was seconded to NHS England as National Medical Director with effect from 1 April 2025. She was Interim Director General at the Department of Health and Social Care from 1 November 2025 and as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer at NHS England from 1 April 2026. Meghana divides her time between NHS England and OUH.
Meghana completed an MBA at Oxford Brookes University (Distinction, 2013) and the Innovating Healthcare for Tomorrow Program at INSEAD, Fontainebleau (2015).
Meghana was awarded the Founding Senior Fellowship of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management in 2015, is a Fellow at Exeter College, Oxford, and an Honorary Professor at Warwick University. Meghana was recently recognised as Professor of Practice in Leadership and Management at the University of Oxford.
As the Chief Executive Officer at OUH, Meghana made ‘people’, ‘patient care’, ‘performance’ and ‘partnerships’, the four key strategic pillars and has focused on the OUH People Plan, productivity and delivery of compassionate and excellent patient care underpinned by the highest levels of research and innovation by embedding quality improvement across the organisation.
Meghana’s interests are teaching leadership and management and leading healthcare organisations, which she does with compassion, courage and candour.
