Background

I studied for my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at Oxford University. Most recently, I completed my DPhil in Law. I was previously a lecturer at Keble College, Jesus College and St Edmund Hall. I also worked for a few years in London where I undertook the training necessary to qualify as a solicitor and barrister.

Teaching

I teach constitutional law, administrative law, and public international law for the BA degree in jurisprudence. Students are also very welcome to contact me for advice about study skills and writing techniques.

Research Interests

My main research interest is in the legal protection of human rights. My DPhil thesis focused on international human rights treaty clauses that facilitate suspensions of certain rights in times of war and emergency. My research explores how courts are interpreting such provisions and whether those interpretations support or undermine the value of human rights protection. I am also interested in international law more generally and in domestic law governing power dynamics between individuals and the State.
