Alumna named “PR Executive of the Year”

Alumna Julia Zamorska (2011, Social Anthropology) was named “PR Executive of the Year” in the American Business Awards 2015. The 13th annual awards were presented during a gala banquet on Monday, 22 June at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park Hotel, with more than 400 nominees in attendance.

Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word meaning “crowned,” the American Business Awards are the US’s premier business awards programme. More than 3,300 nominations from organisations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories, with more than 200 executives worldwide participating in the judging process to select this year’s Stevie Award winners.

As senior director of corporate communications for Fareportal, Julia Zamorska currently heads up global public relations for the $4 billion, 2500-employee travel technology company, which powers CheapOair, the third-largest online travel technology site behind Expedia/Orbitz and Priceline. Ms Zamorska’s employer also won in two other categories, placing it in the company of such multiple winners this year as Accenture, AT&T, Girl Scouts of the USA, Hewlett-Packard, and Marriott Vacations.

Ms Zamorska previously was named PRWeek Awards’ “In-House PR Professional of the Year” finalist in 2013; Golden Bridge Awards’ “Corporate Communications Executive of the Year” in 2012; Stevie Awards for Women in Business “Executive of the Year”; and one of PR News’s “15-to-Watch” list of up-and-coming PR stars in 2011.
