The sense of community fostered by living and working together within a collegiate environment remains unrivalled. At Exeter – at Turl Street and at Cohen Quad – students and fellows live and work alongside each other creating an environment which is a home away from home. We are committed to looking after our ancient, as well as our newest, buildings in order to provide accommodation and facilities that are suitable for today’s needs and form an inspirational environment in which to live and learn.
Restoring and renovating the College’s Library
In 2022/23, Exeter College undertook an ambitious project to restore our beautiful 170-year-old library and make it suitable for 21st century study. Now named the Jackson Library to honour the father of lead donor and alumnus William Jackson, the transformation was completed for the start of Michaelmas Term 2023 and formally reopened by Sir Philip Pullman in May 2024. Discover more about the project and how Exeter’s supporters have helped write the next chapter in the Jackson Library’s history.
I was amazed to find my room had such a picturesque view of the Sheldonian and Rector’s garden. Living on staircase nine was wonderful as I was surrounded by fellow freshers and able to make friends easily. Living such a short distance from the library, hall (and bar!) really helped me settle into college life.
