Alumnus Matt Roller (2016, PPE) releases White Hot: The Inside Story of England Cricket’s Double World Champions
Alumnus Matt Roller (2016, PPE) has recently released a new book alongside co-author Tim Wigmore, exploring the inside story of how England became the first men’s team to hold both of cricket’s World Cups simultaneously.
White Hot: The Inside Story of England Cricket’s Double World Champions tells the nail-biting full story of how England built one of the most extraordinary sides seen in limited-overs cricket and became the first ever men’s team to be One-Day International and Twenty20 world champions at the same time. Featuring exclusive interviews from key players in the 2019 ODI World Cup win and the 2022 T20 World Cup victory, as well as insights from coaches and administrators, White Hot tells the story from those at the heart of the exceptional sporting achievement.
Released at the end of June, White Hot has already garnered rave reviews. It has been called a ‘must-read for any cricket lover’ by Nasser Hussain, former England captain and Sky Sports commentator, and Heather Knight, England women’s captain, has described it as ‘a great story of a remarkable transformation in culture, and results – with wider lessons for anyone involved in cricket.’
Matt Roller currently covers international and T20 cricket for ESPNcricinfo, the world’s leading cricket website, and was named the Christopher Martin-Jenkins young cricket writer of the year for 2021, even appearing on BBC’s Test Match Special.
