Conductor of Exeter’s Founder’s Day Concert receives MBE

Dr Marios Papadopoulos, founder and music director of Oxford Philomusica and the conductor for Exeter College’s Founder’s Day Concert, has been awarded an MBE for services to Music.

Dr Papadopoulos will be conducting the concert, which forms part of Exeter’s 700th anniversary celebrations, at the University Church of St Mary, Oxford on 4 April 2014. The concert will be performed by Oxford Philomusica and will feature the world premiere of “Flyht”, a choral work composed by Nicholas O’Neill especially for the 700th Anniversary.

Central to the whole Anniversary Year’s celebrations, Founder’s Day celebrates the day on which Bishop Walter de Stapeldon signed the College’s founding statutes in 1314, and all that has been achieved over the last seven centuries.

Alumni and current members of the College* are invited to be a part of the Founder’s Day Celebrations. There is no charge to attend as the day is being funded by the College and several alumni.
