David Lametti (1991, Law) appointed to Canadian Cabinet

Exeter alumnus David Lametti (1991, Law) has been sworn in as a Privy Councillor and appointed to the Canadian Cabinet. Professor Lametti has taken up office as Canada’s Minister of Justice and Attorney-General.

Writing on Twitter after his appointment, Professor Lametti said “I am extremely touched and honored by the confidence Prime Minister Justin Trudeau placed in me by appointing me as Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada today.”

Professor Lametti joins fellow Exeter alumnus Jonathan Wilkinson (1988, PPE) as member of Canada’s Cabinet.  Mr Wilkinson was appointed Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard in 2018.
