David Trendell, former Organ Scholar, has died

Exeter College is greatly saddened to learn of the sudden death of Old Member and Organ Scholar David Trendell (1983, Music) earlier this week.

David was College Organist, Director of Music for the Chapel Choir and Senior Lecturer in Music at King’s College London. Prior to his appointment at King’s, David had been a lecturer at St Hilda’s, St Hugh’s and Oriel Colleges, Oxford.

He was a highly regarded choral conductor with a distinguished recording repertoire and he frequently directed choral workshops in the USA. Since taking up his post at King’s in 1992, he had established the Chapel Choir as one of the finest mixed-voice university choirs in the country.

David will be greatly missed by all at Exeter. We will pray for David at this Sunday’s All Souls’ Requiem, at 6pm in the Chapel, and all are welcome to attend. The College will provide details in due course of a Requiem Mass in the College Chapel to commemorate David’s life.
