Exeter College Chapel Choir To Tour Italy’s Adriatic Coast

In the second week of July, Exeter’s famous choir will travel to Italy to visit the famous hilltop town of Assisi, home to St Francis, before moving to the coast to give concerts in Fano Cathedral, Senigallia Cathedral, and the 11th Century church of S Maria in Piazza, Ancona.

The tour is the brainchild of the College’s Catechist and Acting Chaplain, The Revd Jules Cave Bergquist, who has spent over a decade fostering ecumenical relations with these northern dioceses.

The Choir’s director, George de Voil (2011, Music), said “We are delighted to be sharing a new cultural dimension to Jules’ work in The Marches, and look forward to performing in some spectacular churches as well as meeting the friends who have so generously contributed to the organisation of the trip”.

The Choir’s programme include’s Palestrina’s Missa Brevis, Britten’s Hymn to St Cecilia, and works by Walton and Harris.
