Exeter Supernumerary Fellow wins Mathematical, Physics and Life Sciences ED&I Award
Exeter Supernumerary Fellow, Dr Jake Taylor, has recently been awarded “Outstanding ED&I Champion – Staff” at the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion awards within the Mathematical, Physics and Life Sciences (MPLS) Division.
These awards highlight the exceptional work done across the MPLS and celebrate those that may otherwise be overlooked. The ED&I awards also help to raise awareness of impactful and innovative initiatives that support equality, diversity, and inclusion in all its forms, including disability, LGBTQ+, race/ethnicity, gender, mental health, and wellbeing.
Dr Taylor has been the driving factor in establishing a successful and supportive LGBT+ Network across Physics and beyond. Dr Taylor created a Slack channel for communication and mutual support within this group, organises termly coffee and cake get togethers which are open to the whole department, organises activities for LGBT+ in STEM Day, and applied for funding to establish (and then deliver!) an annual LGBT+ public lecture.
Exeter College congratulates Dr Taylor on this achievement.
