Exeter to honour Qian Zhongshu

To honour the life and work of acclaimed Chinese author Qian Zhongshu Exeter will hold a conference in Wuxi, the city of his birth, later this month.

Qian Zhongshu was at Exeter College as a graduate student from 1935 to 1937, studying for a BLitt. He became one of the most accomplished authors of the 20th century and is arguably Exeter’s most distinguished Chinese alumnus.

To celebrate Exeter’s connection with Qian Zhongshu the College has arranged a conference in Wuxi between 18 and 20 March, in collaboration with Jiangnan University. The theme will be the impact on Qian Zhongshu and on his literature of his travel to Europe.
