Exeter welcomes David Schneider (1981, Modern Languages)

Exeter welcomed back actor and comedian David Schneider (1981, Modern Languages) on Sunday evening as he entertained students, alumni and staff in the Rector’s Lodgings as part of the Rector’s 700th anniversary series of seminars.

He recalled sweaty discos in College and demonstrated the psychobilly dance moves he favoured at the time before describing working with Tom Cruise on the set of Mission: Impossible and his long-term collaboration, beginning at Oxford, with Armando Iannucci.

Recalling the creation of Alan Partridge, describing Yiddish stand-up comedy and discussing the merits of Twitter and video-sharing almost in the same breath, Mr Schneider’s tales were varied, highly entertaining and always unexpected.
