Exeter’s Academic Dean gives evidence to House of Commons Political & Constitutional Reform Select Committee

Exeter College’s Academic Dean, Dr Chris Ballinger, gave oral evidence to the House of Commons Political & Constitutional Reform Select Committee in June, as part of their enquiry into “House of Lords reform: what next?”

The Political and Constitutional Reform Committee was exploring into what smaller-scale changes to the membership and structure of the House of Lords would be likely to command a consensus.

Dr Ballinger was invited to give evidence as part of a panel of three specialists on House of Lords reform. They set out to explain which smaller-scale reforms they think are important to implement and why.

The evidence given by the panel was recorded and is available to view online here.

Dr Ballinger published The House of Lords 1911-2011: A Century of Non-Reform in 2012.
