Exonian Costi Levy to cox in the Women’s Boat Race

Congratulations to Exeter student Costi Levy (2019, Philosophy and Spanish) who will cox for Oxford in the 75th Women’s Boat Race next month.

Costi was denied the opportunity to cox at the 2020 Boat Race when it was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This year’s race will take place on the River Great Ouse at Ely on 4 April. Spectators cannot attend the race, but it will be broadcast live on BBC One from 3 pm.

The crowd may be lacking but the excitement, competition and team spirit remain and Costi is looking forward to the challenge. On the motivation within the team, she says: ‘Everyone is here to pull hard and get faster, with the aim of beating Cambridge. The people on the squad are what make the team so special.’

We will be cheering Costi and all of the Dark Blues on from our armchairs on 4 April, which happens to be the 707th anniversary of Exeter College’s foundation, on 4 April 1314. Hopefully all of Oxford will be celebrating with us!
