Exonian publishes work of William Payne

Exonian David Japes (1952, Lit Hum) has edited a catalogue of work by artist William Payne (1760-1830).

The book, published by John Spink Publishing, is called William Payne 1760-1830: Topographer and Artist of the Picturesque. It traces William Payne’s artistic development from his early years as a draughtsman in Plymouth to his time as the most fashionable drawing master in Georgian London, when he established his reputation as an artist of the Picturesque.
