Exonian publishes work on Coleridge and Dryden
Exonian Charles Ross (1963, English) has published a study of Coleridge and Dryden entitled Coleridge the “Enthusiast Warrior”: Kubla Khan and Alexander’s Feast.
Taking the striking textual parallels between Dryden’s Alexander’s Feast and Kubla Khan as his starting point, Charles Ross discusses the themes which are common to both poets and the extent to which Dryden’s poem and his critical theories illuminate Coleridge’s composition and throw light on the potentials and dangers of the poetic imagination. Mr Ross backs up his arguments where possible with Coleridge’s own comments expressed in his Notebooks and Lectures.
