Exonians to appear at Oxford Literary Festival

Exonians Philip Pullman (1965, English), David Vaisey (1956, History), and Emeritus Professor of Physics Frank Close will appear at the Oxford Literary Festival later this month.

Philip Pullman will discuss the UK’s energy future on 24 March and will talk about his writing career to mark the 20th anniversary of the publication of the His Dark Materials trilogy on 28 March.

David Vaisey, the former Bodley’s Librarian, will describe some of the Bodleian’s more unusual treasures on 25 March.

Also on 25 March, Professor Frank Close will reveal the true story of Harwell physicist Bruno Pontecorvo who disappeared from Britain’s atomic energy laboratory in Oxfordshire in 1950 only to turn up six years later on the other side of the Iron Curtain.
