Former organ scholar performs J S Bach’s complete organ compositions

Former organ scholar Christopher Herrick (1961, Music) performed all 900 minutes of J S Bach’s organ compositions in 2014 – quite a feat!

Mr Herrick performed at a series of concerts at the Mariinsky Theatre Concert Hall in St Petersburg on a French organ built by the Strasbourg firm Daniel Kern.

There were 12 concerts in total, performed in sets of three from January to May, concluding with the opening night of the International White Nights Festival, St Petersburg’s annual celebration of arts during high summer. The concerts were almost sold out.

J S Bach’s complete organ compositions are available on Hyperion Records, having been recorded by Mr Herrick in 1998.
