George Bridges (1988, Modern History) appointed to the House of Lords

Exeter alumnus George Bridges (1988, Modern History) has been awarded a peerage by Prime Minister David Cameron.

In a statement on the Government’s website, it was announced that George Bridges would be appointed to the House of Lords and will take a ministerial post in the Government, working in the Cabinet Office as Parliamentary Secretary.

Lord Bridges was Assistant Political Secretary to Prime Minister John Major from 1994 to 1997. From 2004 to 2005 he was Chairman of the Conservative Research Department, and he was the Party’s Campaign Director from 2006 to 2007.
