Lord Stephen Green to speak at Exeter at the Saїd

Lord Green of Hurstpierpoint, formerly Minister of State for Trade and Investment and Group Chairman of HSBC Holdings plc., will deliver a talk at Saïd Business School entitled ‘The Global Shift from West to East: Opportunities and Challenges All Round’. Exeter alumni, students, staff and friends are invited to attend.

Lord Green will talk about the business and trade opportunities that have been created by the emerging markets of the East and the consequences of failing to reach international trade agreements. With over 40 years’ experience in international business and development, Green will share insights into the changing dynamics of the global economy.

Green, an alumnus of Exeter College, began his career in 1970 with the British Government’s Ministry of Overseas Development before moving to join McKinsey & Co Inc, where he worked on assignments in Europe, US and the Middle East. He joined HSBC Group in 1982 where he progressed to the position of Group Chairman in 2006.

While serving as the Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Green led the rejuvenation of the Government’s trade promotion and financing activities, and played an active part in the international trade negotiations.

The talk is given in the Exeter at Saїd series of collaborative events run joinly by Exeter College and the Saïd Business School.
