Old Member publishes book on the Teardrop Island
Cherry Briggs (2003, Biochemistry) has published her first book, Teardrop Island, about her travels around Sri Lanka.
Teardrop Island follows in the footsteps of an eccentric Victorian governmental worker, James Emerson Tennent, along a route which takes Cherry Briggs to pilgrimage trails, into tea estates and rural regions inhabited by indigenous tribes, as well as through restricted areas of the former war zone, delving under the surface of the contemporary culture via cricket matches and fortune tellers.
