Old Member publishes The Book of Marvels and Travels in translation

Dr Anthony Bale (1994, English) has recently published a translation of The Book of Marvels and Travels by John Mandeville.

Sir John Mandeville describes a journey from Europe to Jerusalem and on into Asia, and the many wonderful and monstrous peoples and practices in the East. Dr Bale’s new translation emphasises the book’s readability, and his introduction and notes help bring the modern reader closer to Mandeville’s medieval worldview.
