Organ recital dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Covid-19 pandemic online now
This week’s organ recital, online now, is dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Covid-19 pandemic, and is performed by Christopher Holman, the Parry Wood Organ Scholar. The programme consists primarily of works based on hymns and chorales whose texts speak of human frailty, grief, loss, and the need to trust in God in the worst of times. In addition to music by Bach and Mendelssohn and the premiere of a newly-composed piece by student Will Harmer, the recital also includes rarely-performed works by Fanny Hensel, and Black composers Florence Price and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor.
