His Excellency Dr John Kufuor GCB, MA Oxf

Dr John Kufuor is a former Ghanaian politician who served as President from 2001 to 2009, and Chairperson of the African Union from 2007-08. During his term as President he focused on stabilising the Ghanaian economy and increasing foreign investment. Prior to serving as President, Dr Kufuor had been active in public life in Ghana in a variety of roles, including assisting the drafting of the constitution of the Ghanaian Third Republic, as an MP, and as a deputy foreign minister.

He studied PPE at Exeter College, graduating in 1964. He became an Honorary Fellow of Exeter College in 2002.
