The College Nurse and Welfare Officer is Helen Thornton. She deals with minor illness, minor injury, dressings, help navigating the NHS, when/how to see a GP or general health queries.  Helen has been a nurse since 2002 and has a background in emergency nursing and urgent care.  She is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and has been working at Exeter College since 2016.  Helen works in conjunction with 19 Beaumont Street Surgery, the general practitioner (GP) for Exeter College

To access NHS health services please register with the general practitioner (doctor’s office) at and following the directions.

Due to Covid-19, Helen will be working remotely for the majority of the time – please email for an appointment slot via Teams or via phone.  For sensitive health/medical queries and appointments please email – if urgent please add this to the subject line.  Helen will answer emails asap but if urgent help is needed please call the lodge who can also reach her. NHSmail is the national secure service for NHS healthcare in England and Scotland and is suitable for sending sensitive information.
