Professor Joseph Nye, MA Oxf, PhD Harvard
Professor Nye (1958, PPE) has been ranked as one of Foreign Policy magazine’s 100 Top Global Thinkers and was formerly Dean of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. In 2013 he published Presidential Leadership and the Creation of the American Era, which examines the foreign policy decisions of the presidents who presided over the most critical phases of America’s rise to world primacy in the 20th century, and assesses the effectiveness and ethics of their choices.
He became an honorary fellow of Exeter College in 1998.
