Sir Ronald Cohen MA Camb, MBA Harvard, MA Oxf
Sir Ronald Cohen (1964, PPE) is a venture capitalist with an interest in social investment. He is Chairman of the Global Social Impact Investment Steering Group and The Portland Trust. During the United Kingdom’s presidency of the G8 (2013-15), he chaired the Social Impact Investment Taskforce.
He co-founded and was Executive Chairman of Apax Partners Worldwide from 1972 to 2005. In addition, he has chaired the British Venture Capital Association and was a founder director of the European Venture Capital Association.
While at Oxford he studied at Exeter College, and was President of the Oxford Union. More recently, Sir Ronald and his family foundation have made a major contribution to the funding of Exeter’s new quad on Walton Street. In recognition of Sir Ronald and his family’s generosity the new building was named “The Cohen Quadrangle”, in honour of Sir Ronald’s parents, Michael and Sonia Cohen.
Sir Ronald was made an Honorary Fellow of Exeter College in 2000.
