Professor Catherine Green honoured in Oxford for AstraZeneca vaccine development
Professor Catherine Green, Senior Research Fellow at Exeter College, was honoured in the Sheldonian Theatre at the end of March. She and four other Oxford scientists received trophies, commissioned by the FT Weekend Oxford Literary Festival, to commemorate their work in the development of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.
Lord Patten, Chancellor of the University, paid tribute to the scientists for their tremendous achievement, saying that it ‘rated with the greatest things that this university has ever achieved’. Lord Patten also highlighted the fact that three out of the five scientists being honoured were women, a positive sign for the increased recognition of women’s work in science.
The ceremony was followed by a dinner at Exeter College in honour of the scientists. Exeter College was proud to be part of the event and further celebrate the incredible work of Professor Catherine Green and her colleagues.
