Professor Faramerz Dabhoiwala discusses “the secret history of same-sex marriage” in the Guardian

The Guardian published an extensive article on the secret history of same-sex marriage by Professor Faramerz Dabhoiwala, Fellow in History, on 24 January.

With same-sex marriage making headlines, including Stephen Fry’s recently announced wedding and the US Supreme Court’s impending decision on the legality of same-sex marriages, Professor Dabhoiwala examines the history of formal same-sex unions and asks whether same-sex marriages are really unique to the 21st century.
