Rector Trainor visits Exonians and academics in Switzerland

In September Rector Sir Rick Trainor and his wife Marguerite Dupree travelled to Switzerland to meet Exonians in Geneva, Lausanne and Zurich. On 24 September, 22 alumni and Friends of Exeter College gathered at the Baur au Lac Club in Zurich for dinner and an update on College life today from the Rector. Exeter is very grateful to Howard (1974, Jurisprudence) and Michelle Rosen for hosting and sponsoring the event.

Earlier in the afternoon, the Rector had given a lecture at the Europa Institut, part of the University of Zurich. His talk, “Will the union between England and Scotland survive? A historian’s perspective”, was a shorter version of the lecture he gave at Westminster in May 2015 to mark the close of Exeter’s 700th anniversary celebrations. A video of the lecture is available to view here.

The Rector and Professor Dupree were delighted by the warm welcome they received in Switzerland and they greatly enjoyed meeting so many enthusiastic Exonians.
