Remembering Lady Moyra Bannister
Lady Moyra Bannister – artist and widow of athlete, neurologist and academic leader Sir Roger Bannister (who was an Exeter alumnus and honorary fellow) – died aged 94 on 4 November. Lady Bannister often visited Exeter, of which she was very fond. In particular, she was for many years an active participant in the annual welcoming tea parties for Exeter’s Visiting Students from Williams College. The College gym is named in her honour.
Lady Bannister – mother of Exeter alumni Clive Bannister and Thurstan Bannister, and of former Exeter Catechist the Reverend Charlotte Bannister-Parker – is also survived by her daughter Erin, and by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A vibrant personality even in her final years, Lady Bannister will be greatly missed, not least at Exeter.
